(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov 9, 2015) The community is invited to help shape the future of the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA by participating in a Fitness Expo from 8 to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rockwall Y, 1210 N. Goliad.

The Fitness Expo is the culminating event of the Christian Corneau Fitness Challenge (which there is still time to join!). But even if you don't join the Challenge, you can still come to the Expo!

For $30 (which benefits the Y's Angel Camp program for children with special needs) everyone can participate in and help choose fitness classes for 2016!

Check out: Yoga | Pilates | Athletic Conditioning | Bolly X | BodyPump | RIPPED | BodyShred | Irish Step Dance | Belly Dance | Boomer Fit | Zumba | Cardio Dance | Sock Hop Dance | Spinnervals

Both the Fitness Challenge and the Fitness Expo are open to the entire community, ages 10 and up, regardless of whether they are members of the Y. There is still time to participate in the Fitness Challenge, which runs through 11:50 p.m. Friday, November 13; all participants have to do is register ($30) and download the Map My Fitness app to get started. The Fitness Expo will be 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Saturday, November 14.

Fitness Challenge participants (age 10 and up) will log and track every workout they do in the Map My Fitness app. The top three male and top three female participants with the most time logged at the end of the Fitness Challenge will be awarded fabulous prizes!

“Hopefully, since this is a new event, our members and potential new members will be re-engaged and motivated to try something different!” said YMCA Wellness Coach Christian “Jude” McCarthy, who is coordinating the event.

Fitness Challenge winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the November 14th Fitness Expo celebration.

“This expo is a perfect opportunity for everyone to learn what types of fitness classes we offer at the YMCA, as well as showcasing new formats that have taken the fitness industry by storm!” said Jude.

In addition to the exciting fitness classes, there will also be several community health and wellness booths, games, event shirts and goody bags! DJ Swirvin’ Irvin will also be in the house.

One of the games featured will be a “pin the tail” inspired game where you get to “pin the class” on an empty class schedule. The class formats with the most popularity at the pinned times will be tested with the Y’s January 2016 class schedule.

Child Watch will be provided during Expo for both members and potential new members.
