As summer activities continue at J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall, facility improvements are being made and programs prepare to launch for the fall.

Extended Free Weight Area

The free weight area is being extended with new mirrors on the wall and another set of free weights and benches. This continues recent renovations that included a 6000 sq. ft. workout area with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and flat-screen TV’s.

Child Watch

In addition, improvements are being made to the Child Watch area. Provided free with a family membership, Child Watch is offered for 1.5 hours while parents work out. Additional staff is being added, more toys for older children are being purchased and the outdoor playground has been finished for outdoor play. An awning is being added for shade.

Play More, Pay Less

Registration is now open for fall programs – just in time to take advantage of the Play More, Pay Less incentive. Through August 3, register for any YMCA program – including youth sports, camps, swim lessons or personal training, and you pay no joiner’s fee when you join the YMCA. As a Y member, enjoy a wide variety of group exercise classes, child care while you work out, and pay up to 50% less for programs. The offer is available in-branch only, so stop by the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall to join.

Youth and Government

Registration has begun for fall and the Rockwall Y is looking to add more local schools to the 2015-2016 Youth and Government program. Current schools include Rockwall High School, Rockwall-Heath High School, Wylie East High School, Burnett Junior High School, Cain Middle School and Royse City Middle School. If you would like your school to participate in the Rockwall YMCA's Youth and Government program, contact Matthew Campos, Membership/Youth and Government Coordinator, at 972-772-9622 or email mcampos@ymcadallas.org

As part of the Teen Y&G program, students - along with an advisor - select a section of government they would like to explore, such as Legislative (junior high and high school), Judicial (high school), or Media (high school). Competitions include a District Conference, held the first Saturday in December, and a State Conference, held the last weekend in January for high school, and the last weekend of February for middle school.
