Math center helps children learn multiplication facts during free Friday sessions this fall
ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (October 1, 2014) Mathnasium of Rockwall-Heath is hosting its 4th annual Multiplication Madness, a free event offered each fall for children in second through sixth grade.
“This is a great opportunity for students in the Rockwall area community to hone their multiplication skills in a fun, game-oriented environment. We take four Fridays in the Fall of each year to host one hour sessions where children get an opportunity to practice their multiplication facts while playing games,” said Bob Barnes, owner of Mathnasium in Rockwall(www.mathnasium.com/rockwall-heath).
This year, Multiplication Madness will be held on October 17, October 24, November 7 and November 14. Each session will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and end at promptly 7. As the children rotate from station to station, they play “Card Sharks,” “Flash Master,” “Multiplication Wrap Ups,” “Jeopardy” and “Multiplication Bingo.” Children are awarded door prizes each session as a reward for a good math workout.
“This is a great opportunity for children to begin learning how to multiply as well as practice existing multiplication skills. We believe that children don’t really hate math, but hate being intimidated by something in which they are not confident. This is a chance for children to practice their multiplication in a non-threatening environment,” Barnes said.
“It’s our core belief that most any child can succeed at math. We look forward each fall to introducing multiplication to children in a fun and entertaining way and are excited about helping every child reach their potential in math by teaching in a way that makes sense to them,” he said.
