Citing new industry in the City of Rockwall, CNNMoney has recognized Rockwall County as the No. 2 location in the country in terms of "Where the Jobs Are." The list is a part of the magazine's "Best Places to Live" edition. As noted in the article, job growth between 2010-2012 was up 13 percent. According to CNNMoney, Rockwall keeps climbing with growth in aerospace, logistics, defense, and manufacturing companies expanding and relocating in Rockwall. Located south of Interstate 30 in the city of Rockwall, the 365-acre Rockwall Technology Park has attracted a diverse range of tenants.

CNNMoney, citing examples of industries located in the City of Rockwall, noted that Bimbo Bakeries has built a $75 million bakery in the park that employs 130. Hatfield and Co., a plant engineering specialties distributor, relocated its corporate headquarters, manufacturing and sales offices to the park. The move created 25 full-time positions. And Nolan Power Group recently opened a regional headquarters there. Since 2010, the City has added over $152 million in commercial and industrial property to its tax base, a 13.7 percent increase, which contributes to the increase in jobs, and the overall financial health of our local economy. The City and the REDC are not done yet. The Technology Park still has approximately 228 acres of land yet to be developed, and the City's Planning Department has seen a steady increase in commercial development activity compared to recent years.

Mayor David Sweet is encouraged but isn't surprised by this acknowledgement.

"This study confirms what we've always said. Rockwall is a great place to live, work, and play. The Rockwall City Council and the city staff adopted a business-friendly philosophy years ago. This approach appeals to companies looking to start or expand their businesses and makes them want to come to Rockwall."
