Cain Middle School Instructional Specialist Heather Ross earned the National Certificate for STEM Teaching from the National Institute for STEM Education. Over the summer she completed a 90 hour course focused on the effective teaching practices essential to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math classrooms.

During the course she developed a portfolio of her observations, self-evaluations, documentation, and student work to demonstrate her competency across 15 effective teacher actions. The teacher actions ranged from those that are effective in any classroom to the actions that are more specific to the STEM classroom.

After earning her National Certificate for STEM Teaching, she feels more empowered than ever to help lead her campus in effective STEM teaching practices and meeting the unique academic needs of 21st century learners.
