Dr. John Villarreal, superintendent of Rockwall schools, and Dr. Shannon Flumerfelt, founder of Charactership Lean Consulting, recently coauthored an article featured in the Instructional Leader.

In the article “A Primer on Lean for School Leaders: Are You Wondering What To Do About Teacher Evaluation?,” Drs. Villarreal and Flumerfelt define “lean,” a leadership philosophy and methodology, and apply it to the teacher evaluation system, Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

“I am passionate about education management and how leaders handle the pressure in a changing world,” said Dr. Villarreal.  “I have always been interested in helping people with the ‘do’ aspect of our profession. To me, it is more than pedagogy as we all strive to meet the different needs for all students. It is about operating schools and learning through the eyes of our students.”
