Jones Elementary first grade teacher Anna Gil and kindergarten teacher Mynda Rivera were selected to present training sessions at the Texas Association for Bilingual Educators (TABE) annual conference in Galveston.

Mrs. Rivera and Mrs. Gil presented to more than 100 teachers from different parts of the state and shared their knowledge and expertise. Mrs. Rivera presented a session about engaging students in writing. Mrs. Gil discussed concerns about the misidentification of bilingual students in special education programs.

“It was an amazing experience for both of our teachers,” said Teresa Twedell, principal of Jones Elementary.  “We are very proud that they represented Rockwall ISD and Jones Elementary at the state level.”

TABE pursues the implementation of educational policies and effective bilingual-bicultural programs that promote equal educational opportunity and academic excellence for Bilingual/ESL students.
