In August, the Pullen Student Lighthouse Team made it a goal to teach 7 Habits lessons to their peers by the end of the first semester.

“We are teaching habit 2, which is beginning with the end in mind,” said Madison Glenn, Pullen Elementary 6th grader. “You have an image in your head of what you’re going to do and plan for what’s ahead.”

The team worked hard to find engaging lessons that are applicable to students of all ages.

“We’re going to be making igloos by strategizing with your group,” said Cameron Blum, Pullen Elementary 6th grader. “It begins in the mind. We’re not going to show them our igloo until the end so they have the image of what they’re going to make.”

Many other Rockwall ISD schools are utilizing the Leader in Me lessons.

“Their leadership skills are shining through,” said Lindsey James, 2nd grade teacher and co-leader of the Student Lighthouse Team. “The teachers and students at Pullen have enjoyed learning from the Student Lighthouse Team.”

Leader in Me is a program developed for students using an adaptation of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
