The 47th Annual Rockwall Kiwanis Club Christmas Parade was recently canceled due to weather, which meant Layne Yudizky, 4th grader at Pullen Elementary, was not able to be Grand Marshall.

He was chosen to be Grand Marshall by winning a poster contest, competing against entries from all elementary schools in Rockwall ISD.

Rockwall Kiwanis Club felt bad for Layne and wanted to do something to honor him. And that’s what they plan to do!

“On December 19th at the Rockwall City Council meeting, the Mayor will give Layne a proclamation recognizing him for his efforts,” said Mary Smith, Club Treasurer of Rockwall Kiwanis Club.  “And when the 4th of July parade comes around in 2017, Kiwanis will have an entry in that parade and Layne will be included.”

Layne’s artwork will also be featured in the Kiwanis parade float.

About Layne’s winning artwork: Layne says he loved the Rockwall logo, and since the theme this year was “Spirit of Rockwall,” he added Santa and Christmas trees within the logo to give it a holiday look.
