Rockwall ISD received a trophy from Medical City Children’s Hospital at the April School Board Meeting for the district’s win in the annual “Kids-Teaching-Kids 21-Day Challenge.”

The Kids Teaching Kids program is designed to educate and engage elementary students in better nutrition eating habits. High school culinary students were challenged to create healthy, flavorful, kid-friendly snacks, while the younger children learned that healthy eating can be delicious and fun!

This year, Rockwall ISD’s culinary class wrote healthy snack and meal recipes that elementary-aged students would be able to make on their own, without using the oven or sharp objects.

In January of this year, Rockwall ISD went above and beyond to help motivate every elementary student to sign up for the 21-Day Challenge in order to make a healthier snack by themselves, at home, for 21 straight days.

Rockwall ISD competed against Wylie ISD in the 21-Day Challenge and took first place. On top of beating Wylie, Rockwall ISD also took 1st place of eight districts in the region!

Congratulations to everyone involved in this healthy and fun event and special congratulations to Nebbie Williams Elementary on signing up the most students for the challenge and winning 1st place of our 13 elementary campuses!
