Rockwall High School Junior Ellie O’Neill and Senior Rachel James advanced to the State Competition of the Visual Art Scholastic Event at the regional contest at Rowlett High School this past Saturday, February 13th. The event showcased the best of the best artists from the region.

The State Visual Arts Scholastic Event recognizes exemplary student achievement in visual arts by providing students with a standard of excellence to achieve. During the competition, the art works are juried by a team of certified adjudicators. The region consists of 27 schools and thousands of art pieces are judged with less than 100 advancing to the state competition.

The 2016 State Visual Arts Scholastic finals event will be held April 22-23 at Madison High School in San Antonio. At the state level, students will be judged to which point they may receive the highest honor possible, a Gold Seat.
