Amy Parks-Heath Elementary has been named Great Expectations Model School for the third year in a row! Amy Parks-Heath Elementary is one of three schools named Model School in Texas. To share the great news with students the teachers and staff surprised the students with a glow party celebration during their specials time.
The Great Expectations training model is guided by six basic tenets and 17 classroom practices. The basic tenets include: High expectations, teacher attitude and responsibility, building self-esteem, all children can learn, climate of mutual respect and teacher knowledge and skill. To become a Model School representatives from Great Expectations tour each school site on an unannounced day and examine the culture of the school and how GE practices and principles are being incorporated. 90% or more of teachers must be implementing all of the GE practices in the classroom on a daily basis.
Megan Smith, Interim Principal of Amy Parks Heath Elementary states “We are honored to be recognized as a GE Model School for the third consecutive year. It would not have happened without the hard work from teachers and students, as well as the community support and guidance we receive from the GE organization.”
