This past weekend many Rockwall-Heath High School clubs and organizations volunteered to host the 2nd Annual Pancakes for the Park, in honor of Samantha Knostman.  The event was a great success, with well over 200 people in attendance.  RISD culinary students cooked the pancakes for people to enjoy.  The RHHS orchestra set the tone with wonderful holiday music.  Santa and the FCCLA elves brought holiday cheer to the young and old.  Student Council was key in providing crafts for children to enjoy.  This event allowed over 70 students to volunteer and give back to our community.  Clubs that helped were: Volleyball, Student Council, FCCLA, Culinary students, Kindness and Compassion Club, Sisters with Class, Boys Soccer, ASL club, National Art Honor Society, and DECA.  Ann and Doug Knostman, Samantha’s parents, stated “we continue to be overwhelmed with the love and support everyone has shown our family and this project.  It continues to amaze us what these wonderful people are able to accomplish”.  Since all of these clubs donated time and supplies, the Samantha Knostman Memorial Fund was able to raise over $3,000, all of which will go towards scholarships for RISD students in the spring.
