Congratulations to Jacket Backer January Athletes of the Month Harper Roland, Lauren Baker and Jordan Mathis.

Listed below are all of the outstanding accomplishments made by these athletes during the month of January.

  • Harper Roland – Senior, Soccer
Harper led the team in scoring going into district with six goals and three assist. He is a critical part of the team, a natural leader and the returning team MVP. He is an A/B student and a proven servant in the community through his church. Quote from the Coach, “Harper is a natural leader who leads by example. He is a student of the game and is vital to our team’s success. He is the embodiment of the servant student-scholar.”
  • Lauren Baker – Senior, Soccer
All Tournament team at North Forney Tournament. Leading team in assist with 6 and tied in goals scored with 10. Co-Captain of the team. Lauren is a four year varsity letterman. She was named co-captain of the team by her peers. She has been of the team’s leading goal scorers during her tenure at RHS. This year she has taken the lead in helping to mold a very young, inexperienced team. She helps to guide teammates both on and off the field both by example and through guidance. She looks to leave a legacy this year for the future of Lady Jacket soccer. Quote from the Coach. “Lauren has spent the last four years learning on the go both in the game and life. She has such a positive outlook on life, and loves to see the fruits of her labor come to fruition. She has an infectious smile that she uses to keep the team as positive as possible. She can be a shoulder to lean on or the one to help you celebrate your success. She is truly a competitive young lady, and we are lucky to have her in the program.”
  • Jordan Mathis – Junior, Basketball
Averaged 11 ppg, 8.2 rebounds and 2 steals per game in January. Jordan was the leading scorer and rebounder for the month of January. She sets the tone for the defense, always guarding the opposing teams best offensive threat, and has helped lead the defense to be ranked 4th in the area, and a 10-2 district record. Quote from the Coach, “Jordan plays with such heart and intensity that some of the best offensive threats in the area cant score on her. She is a great leader and example for others to follow. She makes a positive impact wherever she goes.”
