Rockwall High School Jacket Backers October Athletes of the Month
Congratulations to Jacket Backer October Athletes of the Month Emilia Landivar-Nunez, Korrey Barron, and Hollie James!
Listed below are all of the outstanding accomplishments made by theses athletes during the month of October.
- Coach Howell had this to say about Freshman Cross Country runner Emilia Landivar-Nunez:
Emilia was the district 11-6A individual champion in a time of 19:48. She has been a very consistent runner all year and at the district Championship she stepped it up and pulled out the championship for herself and helped the team to a district championship. She has done a superb job coming on at the end of the season when it really mattered. She is an extremely hard worker and has great enthusiasm for the all she does. Quote from Coach Howell, “She is like the energizer bunny and seems to never get tired. Her high energy gives her what she needs to be very good at this sport and she uses it!!”
- Coach Webb had this to say about Senior Football player Korrey Barron:
Korrey had a fantastic month of October, recording six sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and 38 total tackles. He has also been a tremendous leader for the defense all season. Korrey has been the heart and soul of a defense that has gone from worst to first in 11-6A over the past six weeks. Quote from Coach Webb, “Korrey Barron is very deserving of this Athlete of the Month honor. He represents our football program in a very positive manner.”
- Coach Watkins had this to say about Sophomore Golfer Hollie James:
Hollie led the Jackets in scoring in all 3 tournaments. She placed second overall at the Plano invitational. Hollie is a hard worker and is a leader for the Lady Jackets, and she is only a sophomore!! Quote from Coach Watkins, “Great talent. Hard worker. She is a great kid with a bright future as a lady jacket and at the next level as well.”
