Kelsey Gaertner Receives “Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month” Award

The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Kelsey Gaertner as the “Meador Auto Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month”. Gaertner, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Volleyball Team was nominated by Coach Damon Wilson and chosen by the Jacket Backer board.

In a key match between the only two undefeated teams in district (Rockwall and Sachse) Kelsey led the team in digs and kills as they rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the match 3 games to 2.  Kelsey had 26 digs and 17 kills in the match.  She also contributed a stuff block and did not miss a serve in a 5 game match. 

"Kelsey is a great leader on and off the court.  When the team really needs her she is at her best." said Coach Wilson

Chris Warren Receives “Meador Auto Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month” Award

The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Chris Warren as the “Meador Auto Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month”. Warren, a 12th grade member of the Varsity Football Team was nominated by Coach Rodney Webb and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.

Chris accounted for 795 yards and 13 TD's in Rockwall's four September victories, averaging 199 yards and over 3 TD's per game - all of this despite sitting out most of the 2nd half of three of the four games, due to the lopsided score.

Coach Webb said about the selection, “Chris has had an incredible month of September.  He helped lead the Jackets to their best start in 33 years, and he has put an exclamation point on any questions that people had about his ability to overcome last year's knee injury.”

The Rockwall Jacket Backers is sponsoring Military Appreciation Night at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Friday, October 24 when the Yellowjackets play Rowlett in the Ray Hubbard Rivalry. Part of the program is a special video tribute to RHS alumni who have also served in any branch of military service.

If you are a Rockwall High School Alumni or know of anyone who attended RHS and also served in a branch of the U.S. Military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserves) please send the following information to Jacket Backers.

Jacket Backers announces the addition of a new level of membership called the Victory Club. The Victory Club is an exclusive level of Jacket Backer membership for those individuals and businesses that recognize the championship caliber of Rockwall student athletes and share a common desire to help them realize their goals. 

Membership in the Victory Club is open to anyone through three different levels of membership, including one for businesses.  Those who join the Victory Club by September 1 will become Charter Members and their names will be included on a commemorative plaque to be placed in the trophy foyer at Rockwall High School. 

The Victory Club will help provide additional financial support to the more than 800 student athletes that compete in 22 sports at Rockwall High School.  Victory Club funds will allow Jacket Backers to provide resources beyond what the individual sports raise through their fundraising efforts. Some of this year's investments include:

  • New indoor training equipment used by all Rockwall Sports
  • Upgrading the Rockwall locker room at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium
  • Improving equipment and logistical support for every sport
  • Supplementing the Jacket Backer Scholarship Fund 

Victory Club members will also receive a membership package that includes:

  • VIP Parking Pass at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium for RHS football games.
  • Exclusive access to the Jacket Backer VIP Reception located in the Mezzanine at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium during home football games.
  • Exclusive access to Bi-Monthly ‘Chalkboard Breakfast’ during the school year to hear Rockwall Head Coaches talk about their teams, the competition and plans for their respective programs. 
  • Recognition on the Jacket Backer website and in all Rockwall Sports programs.
  • Other special Victory Club events throughout the year.

Weidman and Voth Awarded Jacket Backer Scholarships

Jacket Backers is proud to announce that Michael Weidman, a Yellowjacket senior gymnast, and Rebecca Voth, a senior member of the Lady Jackets swim team, are recipients of this year’s Jacket Backer Student Scholarship awards. The Jacket Backer Scholarship Fund recognizes senior students currently involved in Rockwall athletics, cheerleading, drill team, or athletic training who exhibit excellent performance in both the class room and their chosen sport.

The Scholarship Fund is awarded annually to one male and one female graduating student athlete who meet the eligibility requirements. Applicants are judged in 4 areas: overall GPA; AP and Pre-AP coursework; extra-curricular activities and community service; and finally, a written essay.  The Jacket Backer board of directors increased this year’s scholarship award to $2,500 for each recipient. 

Congratulations to Michael and Rebecca on receiving this year’s Jacket Backer Student Scholarship Award!

RHS Football Spring Swarm Is Coming!

The Rockwall High School Football Team and Jacket Backers Booster Club are teaming up with Meador Auto to kick off this year’s Spring Swarm.  Spring Swarm is the annual spring football game to introduce the 2014 Rockwall Yellowjacket Football team and conclude their annual food drive for Helping Hands.  The canned food drive will be on Friday, May 16 and the game will be at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium on Thursday, May 22.  The JV game begins at 6:00 pm and the Varsity starts at 7:15. Admission is free with two canned goods or $2 per person with all admission proceeds going to Helping Hands of Rockwall County.

Coming off their first playoff win in over 20 years, the Football Jackets are looking forward to the move to District 11-6A and competing for a spot in the Texas High School Football Playoffs.  “2013 was a great momentum-builder for our football program,” said Coach Webb.  “We plan to take the 2014 Jackets to new heights.  There is a tremendous sense of excitement in our school and community about the upcoming Jacket football season, and this is a great time to support the great things these kids are doing both on and off the field.”

This year’s spring game is designed to be a community event and include pre-game food stands, fan contests, Jacket Backers promotions, special guests and a 7 on 7 game between Utley and Williams Middle Schools at half-time of the varsity game.  The Rockwall Cheerleaders, Stingerettes, Jacket Guard and the Orange Wave Marching Band will be on hand for the event.

Rockwall High School Head Football Coach Rodney Webb and the Rockwall Yellowjacket Football Team are proud to announce their second annual spring food drive for Helping Hands of Rockwall County.  In conjunction with spring practice and culminating with Spring Swarm on May 22nd, the football boys will strive to fill the shelves at Helping Hands.  

Yellowjacket football players will be going door-to-door in the Rockwall attendance zone on Friday, May 16th collecting canned goods and boxed food donations. Helping Hands is in need of all canned and boxed food goods.  They would be especially appreciative of donations that include soup, canned fruit, canned meat, rice, boxed pasta, toilet paper and bar soap. 

In addition, canned goods will be collected at the gate of the Spring Games on May 22nd.  The JV game starts at 6:00 pm and the Varsity game starts at 7:15 pm.  Admission to Spring Swarm is free with the donation of two canned goods per person, or one can pay admission of $2 per person.  All admission proceeds will be donated directly to Helping Hands of Rockwall County. 

Helping Hands of Rockwall County provides valuable services to the community. The football players are honored to be a member of the Helping Hands team!

The Rockwall Lady Jackets will host senior night on January 31st against the Mesquite Skeeters. This will be the final regular season home game of the season. 

At 6:45 pm, the Lady Jackets will honor players Ellen Baker, Hannah Clark , Kaelyn Hutton and Ka’Briana Person. Managers Kailan Hammer, Cindi Green and Brittany Gaines will also be honored.

Rockwall is currently 9-1 in District 12-5A and are currently sitting in 1st place and the Skeeters are currently in 3rd place. Thank you for all the continued support! Come Early, Be Loud, Wear Orange! JFND!
