The Rockwall Harbor project was started in 2003 to provide a boardwalk experience for Rockwall and nearby residents through a private and public partnership.  Follow the link to see more about the history of the Rockwall Harbor.  The project has a ton of great events and two of my favorite places… Cinemark and Glorias!  Watch the video below to see more of the Rockwall Harbor with me as your host!

Top restaurants at the Rockwall Harbor include Glorias Cuisine, Campisi’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Dodies Cajun Diner, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, Three Sheets, and Twisty Treats!

Glorias is a fantastic restaurant with an incredible menu (Ceviche is my favorite), high quality ingredients, and the best margaritas at the harbor. The service is fast and friendly and nearly every seat in the house has a great view of the lake.  If it’s not too hot, I highly recommend sitting on the patio.  If it’s a concert on the lake day, arrive early and get a patio seat then enjoy a great view from a comfortable spot with table service.  Not paid to write/say any of this… I just like Glorias.

Rockwall Cinemark is a favorite place to catch movies in Rockwall.  They have 12 screens and plenty of 3D movies.  If you arrive early, you can checkout the beautiful fountain or walk down by the lake.  If you’re like me, you always get popcorn and coke!  Yes, it’s a movie addiction. Cinemark has announced upgrades in the Fall of 2017 for improved seating.  Check here for showtimes.

The Rockwall Harbor also has some specialty shopping and services via En Fuego, Hollywood Nails, and Providence Place Bridal Shop.  I don’t have any personal experiences with these shops, but I’ve heard great things about them.

The Rockwall Harbor is a great place to come and relax with the family from the large spray park to the sweeping views of the lake.  It’s a fantastic place to spend the day.  For those who like to be out on the Lake, you’ve got plenty of boat slips to come in to recharge before heading back out.  On really busy days, the slips can fill up but you usually don’t have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a spot to clear.  If you don’t have a boat, you can always catch a ride with Scott.  I’ve sailed with Scott a few times and it’s beautiful and just the right amount of time out on the lake.

Concerts by the Lake by Rockwall Parks and Rec occur on Thursday evenings throughout the Summer months from May to August.  The staff at the Rockwall Parks and Rec do a tremendous job of booking quality bands across a wide range of genres from Classic Rock to modern pop varieties.  Several cover bands will also make appearances covering fan favorites such as The Beattles, U2, Bon Jovi, and more.   The full schedule can be located here.  The Rockwall Harbor amphitheater can hold a few thousand and there really isn’t a bad seat, but arrive early if you are picky.

You can even rent the Rockwall Harbor for weddings, corporate events, and more.  The park is available to rent in three areas marked as the upper plaza, lower plaza, and amphitheater.  Check the link for current prices but as of this writing, the entire public space (all three areas) can be rented for $600/hr… a reasonable venue price and great value.   You can find rental information at the Play Rockwall website.  

Another great venue at the Rockwall Harbor is the Hilton Hotel.  I have stayed at the Hilton a couple of times and found the hotel to be very nice, with quality service, and great views.

The nightlife at the Rockwall Harbor isn’t bad either.  Late nights can be had at Doddy’s, Three Sheets, and the Hilton.  Each host a variety of events including Karaoke nights, Halloween Parties, etc.  If it’s too late of a night, you can stay at the Hilton Harbor.

In summary, the founders of the Rockwall Harbor have succeeded in their endeavors.  They have created a great public space with quality dining, shopping, and entertainment which is why I LOVE the Rockwall Harbor!  I know you will too.
