The Lower Greenville St. Patricks Day Block Party returns Saturday, March 14, 2026, bringing a full day of music, celebration, and high-energy festivities to one of Dallas most iconic entertainment districts. Sponsored by The Vanderbilt to Vickery Association, this beloved tradition has defined St. Patricks Day on Lower Greenville for more than 30 years, drawing thousands of attendees each year.

Gates open at 9:00 AM, and Lower Greenville quickly becomes a hub for the days celebrations. This 21+ event creates a large-scale street festival atmosphere featuring outdoor bars, live DJs, beer tents, and venue-specific experiences from many of the neighborhoods most popular restaurants and bars.

Eight of Lower Greenvilles most recognizable destinations will anchor this years celebration: Stans Blue Note, Dallas oldest continuously operating bar; The Dubliner, Dallas oldest Irish pub; Dodies Reef; Terillis Restaurant; Halcyon; Christies Sports Bar; Sister Restaurant; and Goodwins. Together, these venues showcase the distinctive character and energy that define the Lower Greenville Block Party.

The Lower Greenville Block Party is known as much for its atmosphere as its scale. Greenville Avenue comes alive with music, movement, and a crowd dressed head-to-toe in festive green, from shamrocks and bold outfits to playful accessories and costumes. Groups gather for photos, drinks are raised, and spontaneous pockets of dancing fill the street, creating the anything-can-happen energy that has become synonymous with Lower Greenville.

The Lower Greenville Block Party has become one of Dallas most recognizable St. Patricks Day traditions, said a representative of The Vanderbilt to Vickery Association. There is nothing quite like seeing Greenville Avenue come alive in a sea of green. Our goal is to provide a fun, welcoming environment where guests can celebrate responsibly and enjoy the day safely.

Guests can enjoy multiple entertainment activations throughout the event footprint, including three music stages. Participating venues will offer festive favorites such as green beer and festive food offerings. Many locations will also feature dedicated VIP-style areas, providing special access to patios, rooftops, and premium viewing spaces.

The block party takes place along Lower Greenville Avenue between Vanderbilt and Vickery from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is $20 per person (cash only). Valid government-issued identification is required for entry (21+), and ATMs will be available at entry points and throughout the event grounds.

To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, backpacks, large bags, coolers, containers, and outside beverages are prohibited. Items may not be taken into or out of the event footprint once inside. Dallas police officers will be on-site throughout the event to support safety and crowd management.

Stans Blue Note, Dallas oldest and most beloved sports bar located on Lower Greenville Avenue, is proud to announce a record-breaking $8,886 raised during its 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off. The event, held Sunday, February 1, benefited Amplified Minds, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to offering free mental health services to individuals ages 18+ while working to break the stigma surrounding mental health.

With nearly 30 chili entries, a packed house, and a day full of friendly competition, the annual event once again brought the East Dallas community together for a cause that matters. Proceeds from the cook-off directly support Amplified Minds efforts to expand access to critical mental health care.

Dodie's at The Harbor raises over $1,500 for Givingmas at First Annual Gumbo Cook-Off

Dodies Cajun Diner at The Harbor is proud to announce the success of its First Annual Gumbo Cook-Off, where the community came together in true Cajun spirit to raise more than $1,500 for Givingmas, an East Dallas-based nonprofit that walks alongside families as they overcome barriers and build lasting stability.

Held on Sunday, Nov. 9, the flavorful friendly-fire competition featured 17 talented contestants, each bringing their best pot of gumbo to the table. Guests packed Dodies dining room and bar, purchasing tasting spoons, raffle tickets, and T-shirtsall contributing to the final donation total.

From traditional roux-based recipes to bold, creative twists, the entries showcased the full spectrum of what gumbo can be. One entry featured tender duck, while another arrived brimming with crab claws, said Trevor Keils, Dodies General Manager. Our judges had a blast tasting their way through such a wide range of flavors.

First place for Peoples Choice and Judges Choice were given cash prizes; second and third places were awarded Dodies gift certificates.

What stood out most to the judges was the heart and pride poured into every pot. Each contestant brought their own story, their own family touch, and their own version of comfort food to the table, McRae said.

A formal check presentation from Dodies to Givingmas will take place soon.

Giving back is at the heart of who we are, said McRae. This community shows up time and time again, and were grateful to everyone who cooked, tasted, donated, judged, and celebrated the spirit of Cajun cooking for a cause that truly matters.

At McRaes, we believe in good food, good company, and good causes especially when they begin close to home.

When McRaes owner Mike McRae met Alexis and Richard Penn, longtime guests who shared the story of their daughter Emily, he was deeply moved. Emily was diagnosed with Friedreichs Ataxia (FA) at 15, which is a rare, progressive neurological condition that affects balance, coordination, and muscle strength. The diagnosis turned their world upside down, but what followed has been nothing short of inspiring.

Instead of retreating, the Penn family stepped forward choosing to live with purpose, optimism, and grace. Now 32, Emily is married with four children, and her parents have dedicated themselves to helping other families through the Friedreichs Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA).

Since joining FARA, Alexis has watched remarkable progress unfold. What began as a small grassroots movement in 1998 has grown into a global research network funding more than a dozen clinical trials and supporting the first-ever FDA-approved treatment for FA. About 95% of all funds raised go directly to research, driving innovations in gene therapy, protein restoration, and other promising paths toward a cure.

As Alexis shared, We fundraise because we know research is advancing. When scientists meet our patients face-to-face, it stops being abstract. That human connection motivates the work. She added, Weve been riding this train for 17 years, and were not stopping. I tell Emily, Youre going to see a cure in your lifetime.

Moved by their story, McRaes is proud to host Families for a Cure: McRaes Evening for a Cause honoring the Penn family and supporting FARAs life-changing mission.

On Wednesday, November 19, well donate 25% of all dinner food sales to FARA, helping fund research that brings hope to families like the Penns and to every person living with Friedreichs Ataxia.

Neighbors for a Cure: Dodies Give Back Night

Around here, community means everything. Dodies Rockwall has always been more than a place to eat. Its where friends gather, families celebrate, and neighbors lend a hand. On Tuesday, November 18, were inviting our community to join us in supporting a Forney family whose story of faith and strength has touched our hearts.

Emily was diagnosed with Friedreichs Ataxia (FA) at just 15 years old. FA is a rare, progressive neurological disease that affects balance, coordination, and muscle strength. When doctors shared that Emily would likely need a wheelchair by her early twenties, it was one of those moments that stops time when life suddenly looks different, yet love and determination grow even stronger. Instead of giving in to fear, Emily and her parents, Alexis and Richard Penn, chose resilience and light.

Now 32 and living near the Forney-Heath area, Emily is married with four children. She lives life fully cooking, caring for her family, and adapting with remarkable strength and grace. As her mother describes it, So many people facing disabilities have a choice: to live in darkness or in the light. Weve always chosen the light.

Through their involvement with the Friedreichs Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), the Penn family has seen extraordinary progress firsthand. What began as a small grassroots organization in 1998 has grown into a powerful research network driving more than 13 clinical trials and the first FDA-approved treatment for FA, released just last year. About 95% of every dollar raised goes directly toward research which includes things like genetic therapy, protein restoration, and other promising paths to a cure.

The Penn's believe strongly in what the community and research can accomplish. Weve been riding this train for 17 years, and were not stopping, Alexis said says. I tell Emily shes 32 now Youre going to see a cure in your lifetime. For them, fundraising isnt just about treatment its about faith in the future and the belief that every small act of kindness brings that future closer.

On Tuesday, November 18, Dodies will donate 25% of all dinner food sales to FARA in Emilys honor, helping to fund ongoing studies and provide hope for families living with FA.

Rockwall's J.E.R. Chilton YMCA Angel Camp receives donation from Atmos Energy

Rockwall, TX - J.E.R. Chilton YMCA announces with gratitude, that Atmos Energy recently donated a generous gift of $10,000 to Angel Camp, a program of the Rockwall YMCA dedicated to providing authentic summer camp experiences for special needs youth in and around Rockwall County.

The donation, announced following a presentation to Atmos Energy employees on May 28, 2025, goes a long way to providing this important program at no cost to the campers families.

For Eva Hummel, Manager of Public Affairs for Atmos Energy, this is an important program that she has witnessed to be life changing. Service to the community is at the forefront of everything we do, says Hummel. When we first learned of Angel Camp, we knew it lined up perfectly with our Fueling Safe and Thriving Community initiatives and hearing more really opens our eyes to why we support this wonderful program. Our employees are excited to volunteer at Angel Camp once again.

The $10,000 donation has a significant impact, ensuring these young people receive an opportunity to grow, connect with others, and create lasting memories.

Speaking for our staff, the campers, and certainly their parents, we are appreciative of Atmos Energys partnership, says Harold Young, Executive District Director. Their generosity directly impacts the quality and the accessibility of our program offerings.

Over six weeks each summer, Angel Camp offers activities the participants might not otherwise experience. Through field trips (horseback riding, sailing Lake Ray Hubbard aboard Sail With Scott, bowling at Shenaniganz, fun at Jungle Trek, Urban Air, and others) and onsite activities of canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, games, and swimming, Angel Camp provides educational and engaging activities in a safe environment, while also promoting friendships, confidence, and socialization.
