The Rockwall Yellowjackets and Rockwall-Heath Hawks will enter the Heritage I-30 Classic on September 23 as a perfect 1-0 in district.
The Yellowjackets trailed by 17 late in the third quarter on Friday night against John Tyler at Rose Stadium, but as the ole saying goes “JFND” the Jackets lived up to their motto and rallied and connected with a Jones to Crawford fire drill 2 point conversion to seal up a 59-58 victory in east Texas.
The Hawks didn’t need to rally in their game as it was almost wrapped up by halftime. The Hawks trailed 7-0 early in the game, but once their hot offense got cookin it was easy street the rest of the way. The Hawks won 34-7 to go 1-0 in district.
The Hawks and Jackets will meet under the lights of Wilkerson Sanders Memorial Stadium on Friday night for the 7th time. The Hawks lead the series 4-2 and the visitor has won every matchup except 2008 where Heath defeated Rockwall. The Yellowjackets won the last meeting on September 27, 2013.
