(FRISCO, TX – May 3, 2016) Cloudy skies and chilly temperatures didn’t stop the numerous families and children from an afternoon of fun-filled activities during the Healthy Kids Day event at the Frisco Family YMCA (3415 Main St) on Saturday, April 30.

The event celebrated the YMCA’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of families, and featured all types of fun active play and educational activities to keep kids active and learning. Youth in attendance enjoyed a bounce house, hoola-hooping, bowling and face painting while perusing the many different stations set up outside the Frisco Y. They also learned about the many benefits which come with daily exercise and the importance of keeping physically active during the summer months away from school.

Around 20 YMCAs across North Texas participated in the Healthy Kids Day initiative.

Healthy Kids Day is celebrated at nearly 1,600 events across the country as a way to keep kids physically active and engaged in learning during the summer break.

“YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a national initiative dedicated to promote and strengthen the health and well-being of kids,” said Frisco YMCA Vice President of Operations Bill Markell. “As part of the Y’s promise to “Strengthen Community” we celebrate “Healthy Kids Day” in an effort to teach youth healthy habits, encourage healthy play, and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity.”
